"Hanzi is Chinese for " Chinese (han) character (zi)." Many of the written Chinese characters in use today can be traced back to ancient, inscribed oracle bones and bronzes dating back to the Shang dynasty about 1,500 B.C. though the process of creating the characters likely began some centuries earlier. The archeological finds of recent decades demonstrates the continuity of Chinese culture through the centuries with the Chinese language being its primary carrier.
The author believes that there is a possible connection between the Bible and Chinese characters. Interestingly, because Hanzi is written in the form of pictographs, Chinese words itself are pictures from which one can draw out meanings and even stories.
The book is based on the following seven characters with one common character, Lamb (羊). The characters are:
- 樣 yang Follow, example
- 善 shan Kindness
- 美 mei Beauty
- 祥 xiang Prosper, propitious, auspicious
- 養 yang Feed, support
- 群 qun Congregation, herd
